Central Govt Employees get 7% DA Hike

The central government employees and pensioners will get a partial relief from inflation as the government hiked the dearness allowance (DA) by 7 per cent, which will be applicable from January 1, 2012.

The new DA rate of 65% of basic pay against 58% will put an additional burden of Rs 7,500 crore on the exchequer per year.

The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet. Around 50 lakh employees and 30 lakh pensioners will be benefited by the increased DA.
